The Only One

(kathleen sabo)
Yeah, ay, ay…

Am I the only one crying?
As I see the people laying dying,
I don’t care which side you’re on,
A child is here and then she’s gone,
And the grief will linger on without even trying.

How can it be okay,
In any age, in any day,
When it’s the innocent who pay,
For the lying,
Am I the only one crying?

Am I the only one asking?
When this violent cycle will be passing,
You can say that it’s naïve,
But I really must believe,
That in time we can achieve a peace that’s lasting,
Am I the only one asking?

Yeah, ay, ay..

Am I the only one praying?
That our human fabric will stop fraying,
We’ve pierced the soul and chilled the heart,
Cold flesh and blood are just the start,
We must examine the part we are playing.

How can it be okay,
In any age, in any day,
When it’s the innocent who pay,
With their slaying,
Am I the only one praying?
Oh, am I the only one praying?

Oh, am I the only one?
