kathleen sabo: Music

Unbowed

(kathleen sabo)
She wakes at 5 a.m. each morn,
Long before the others,
Sometimes the fate of those who toil,
The fate of many mothers.
She feeds and clothes and caretakes,
The body and the soul,
She hopes by splitting up her life,
She’ll keep the others whole.

And it would be so, so easy,
Oh so easy,
Oh so easy to let go.
And it would be so, so simple,
So sad and yet so simple,
Oh so simple to let go.

She holds a job that no one wants,
A job she really needs,
If they want to grow a future,
They must begin with seeds.
Some people look right through her,
She knows she’s worth much more,
If being ghostly takes its toll,
Your smile feeds her core.

But it would be so, so easy,
Oh so very easy,
Oh so easy to let go.
And it would be so, so simple,
Oh so sad and yet so simple,
Oh so very simple to let go.

Oh, let her go.

But she is unbowed,
She is unbroken,
No matter what harsh words are spoken.
She takes a vow, she spends her courage,
To lead them on their way.

Yeah-hay-hay, yeah-hay-hay-hay, yeah-hay-hay-hay, yeah-hay-hay,
Yeah-hay-hay, yeah-hay-hay-hay, yeah-hay-hay-hay, yeah-hay-hay.
(She is unbowed…)

She is unbowed,
She is unbroken,
No matter what harsh, harsh words are spoken,
She takes a vow, she spends her courage,
To lead them on, lead them on their way.

She is unbowed,
She is unbowed,
She is unbowed…
